ADHOC: Iroquois Confederacy
For OSUMUN, I was tasked with running the ADHOC committee, and this year I decided to give with a committee theme that was a bit different. I set it at the dawn of the Iroquois Confederacy, the Native American League that set precedent for most political unions that would come later, from the United States to the United Nations. It also gave us the opportunity to explore and respect an often disregarded piece of American history. The delegates were more than up to the task, the committee was designed in such a way that it rewarded peace initiatives more than warmongering and it encouraged expansion through unification of other tribes into the league. Overall, my experience directing the committee was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for better delegates or staffers.
